Komunikacijske vještine

Improvised presentation

Goal of the practical class

The goal of the practical class is to analyse and raise awareness of the basic elements of verbal communication and its relation to non-verbal communication, and to deliver an impromptu speech on the given topic.

Preparation

Prior to the class attendance, the students should study theoretical background of the practical class.

Delivery method

Students come out individually in front of the group. The group gives a topic and the speaker should deliver the speech without preparation. The structure of the speech consists of the following elements:

  • Introduction
  • Self-introduction
  • Topic elaboration and asking the question
    •      Arguments in favour of the answer A
    •      Arguments in favour of the answer B
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion

Topic of the speech should be suitable for debate, offering a clear choice between two different answers. The choice of topic is left to the students, thus making the practical class relevant to their reality.

At the end of the class, students and their lecturer together comment the acquired experience. After assessing the potential benefit of the class for their professional and private development, students in cooperation with their lecturer give a critical review of its successfulness.
