Karl Popper policy debate primarily deals with the fashions of sorting out some issues. According to Croatian Debate Society, “”affirmation within the resolution in this type of debate identifies a problem which must be solved by meaningful and feasible plan that has to be defended. Negation must either prove that affirmative plan is not good, or it can put forward its plan (counterplan) and try to prove that it is better”” (2012).
The above mentioned debate is often used in the work of Croatian Debate Society, which kindly gave us their materials for our preparation. Prior to the practical class attendance, the students should read them and be prepared for the topic. Materials of Croatian Debate Society on Karl Popper policy debate can be found here (in Croatian).
Important
Standardly the debate is held with six debaters divided into two three-member teams. As it is almost impossible in higher education to have the number of students in the class which is a multiple of six, this textbook is recorded with eight students in total, and therefore the debate in the practical class is adjusted to the real conditions.
In order to provide the students with the right information on how to hold Karl Popper Policy Debate, the number of debaters in the theoretical part of the lecture is not adjusted to the real condition in our classroom.
